About Jordana Fine Arts

Meet the Artist: Donna Jordana

I have always created artwork, be it calligraphy, acrylic paints, wall murals, or my newest venture in glasswork. My glasswork creations are based on the premise that from the broken, new creations are fused into beauty. This new style of glasswork isn’t stained glass, fusion glass, or mosaic glass – it’s broken glass and has the added benefit of keeping glass out of the landfills, one bottle at a time. I am self-taught except for calligraphy classes at Walter’s Art Gallery in Baltimore, MD.

I love flowers and gardening, and these hobbies are my inspiration as a glass artist. With the blossoms as my muse, I create flower art with broken glass to capture the joy that garden blossoms bring so they may be experienced year-round. Creating a new style of glass art, called by viewers as Avant Garde, allows me to form unique, beautiful flowers that capture the day’s light while providing an exciting challenge of breaking the glass into pieces and placing them together like puzzle pieces. The color of certain flowers is produced by layering different colors of glass, resulting in artwork that combines abstract and representational qualities.  My aim is to show through glass art how something broken can be given new life and renewed into a new creation of beauty.

I live in Ellicott City, MD with my husband of 47 years, and an adorable 1-year-old cat named Pumpkin, in the in-law suite next to my son, daughter-in-law, and four teenage grandsons. Rounding out the family is one dog, two cats, and eight chickens. Life is good!
